Challenge: PBGC’s Financial Operations Department (FOD) administers and manages financial and accounting programs and prepares financial statements for the Corporation. FOD needed assistance in implementing an externally hosted COTS solution for PBGC’s Trust Accounting System (TAS). The TAS is pre-dominantly used for the management and financial reporting of the PBGC’s Trust Fund, which is a portfolio of securities and investments acquired by the Corporation from various plans at the date of their plan termination.
Solution: SP Group served as a subcontractor to the winning team selected by PBGC to provide functional and technical expertise for the implementation and integration of the COTS solution for TAS.
SP Group’s subject matter experts assisted the larger prime contractor in performing fit-gap analysis and business process changes, conducting design sessions and developing levels of efforts (LOE), as well as performing acceptance testing and user training.
The COTS solution was successfully implemented for PBGC in 2013. SP Group continues to provide uninterrupted maintenance, support and technical assistance services to PBGC in connection with the current and planned updates to the COTS solution having been part of two successful re-competitions for this contract.
